This isn't a matter of time zone trickery or a doctored time stamp on the image -- I spent five years living in that part of the world and that hour of the day really does look like that around the longest day of the year (see bottom of page).
Immediately below, you see the same view as it looked at 12:01 p.m. on December 21, 2002. How would you like to live in a place where the sun gets no higher than that at Christmastime? It is, shall we say, an acquired taste.
