Things to Know about your Memory Foam Mattress Topper
Posted on Jul 27, 2014
A memory foam mattress topper is a block of memory foam, it can go from 2 inches to 4 inches thick. It sits on top of your mattress that you already have. When you buy one, make sure that it has the same size as your current mattress. That means, you need a queen size if you have a queen-size bed.
Is a topper good for your back?
When purchasing a topper for your memory foam mattress, you must opt for a unit that comes with good support. This means that you have to look into its foam density. Go for a density of 4 or 5 pounds if you have a bad back and you want your memory foam mattress topper to alleviate it.
However, if you could find a topper with a density of 5 or more, then that’d be better.
Is it any good?
A memory foam topper is of no good if you don’t have a good mattress already. If your mattress is already 7 years old, you must replace it entirely. However, if it’s still decent, then a topper can be useful to make the mattress still useful for a few more years.
But if the mattress is already worn out, it’s a waste of money purchasing a memory foam mattress topper just to cover its foundation.
Why would you like to have a topper when you already have a memory foam mattress?
One of the best things about a topper is that it can soften an already good bed. You can also use it on a sofa bed to avoid cracking your back when you sleep on it. A memory foam mattress topper is also great when you have guests, whether they’re kids or adults. It’s also great when you’re camping out for better sleeping.
How long does it last?
Cheap memory foam mattress topper will only last 1 to 2 years. However, if you opt for high quality ones, they can last up to 10 years, as long as you take care of them. The higher the density of the foam, the longer the unit can last.
