Chris and I went to Alabama to have lunch.
(You knew there had to be more, didn’t you?)
...with Susanna Cornett.
Ever since Susanna moved to Alabama last year (or thereabouts) she and we had been talking about getting together, and today the stars finally got properly aligned, and we met at Cracker Barrel in Oxford, more or less halfway between Newnan and Columbiana. Susanna and Chris did most of the talking of course.
<ducks, just in case>
I can report that Susanna is every bit as funny and engaging in person as in her blog persona. And she’s already posted her account of the meeting. This was my first blog-meet (although we’re planning to hit this train wreck in April, barring unusual circumstances), and a fine initiation.
I would only take issue with one thing in Susanna’s post, though:
He often commented on my blog, I did on his, we linked back and forth, and emailed occasionally. That was almost three years ago, and at the time he and his wife Chris (who now has a cat blog) lived in Alaska and I was in New Jersey. In the kind of twists life takes that we usually can’t foresee, I moved to Alabama about the time they moved to Georgia.
Actually, we moved here from Alaska in 1999, long before I ever discovered blogs and blogging, and therefore before I first followed a link to cut on the bias. But Susanna certainly played a role in leading me to the decision to start blogoSFERICS. As for this part:
It was a lovely afternoon, and I hope we do it again soon.
...it’s unanimous.
